Introduce Yourself

Blogging 101 Prompt: Today’s assignment: write and publish a “who I am and why I’m here” post.

My name is M. Burgess Taylor and I’m here because I’m a writer who would like to update my blog, become better at blogging, learn more about WordPress, and connect with more people.

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal? I think it’s important not to ostracize myself too much. Writing is a solitary endeavor. I already spend a great deal of time alone when writing, that it’s good to get out and meet others, even if it’s from the computer. With that said, I think there are other people out there who  are struggling with inspiration, motivation, etc and maybe my struggle, thoughts, ideas, rants, rambles, raves, and whatnot might just help someone else. I know other people’s posts help me.
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about? I write about a variety of topics from writing, marriage, love, traveling, family, photography, life in general, books…The list goes on.
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog? Other writers, readers, photographers, artists, DIYer’s,  and others in general.
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished? My goal for next year is to purchase my own domain, and to make my blog even better. To learn enough about blogging that my blog is more than just a place where I ramble and rant.

Who am I? I’m a coffee lover, an amateur photographer, a book nerd, a mother, a grandmother, and I still consider myself to be a newlywed even though we just celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary. I also love swimming, sunsets, traveling,  sunrises, and taking walks–all of these things provide me with much needed inspiration. My desk is a hodge podge of creative clutter, but that’s how I work best. And I’m an avid people watcher. I’m also a stalker of the writing spaces of others.

nice introduction. you have a good goal to purchase a domain name (it is easy and inexpensive and you can always point it to instead of self hosting). it is nice to meet you.

Thanks. I planned on pointing it to WP, wouldn’t begin to know how to self host. Thanks for the comment and read. 😀

Thanks 😀 I appreciate it. I’m still trying to figure out what the best options are for buying my own domain, etc… I really want to change my url but someone else already has burgesstaylor, thus the numbers on the end…Hoping that by the end of Blogging 101 I’ll understand more about what options I have.

Thanks. There is so much I want to learn about formatting posts, how to get the most out of my theme, etc… I think this is a great start to learning all of that and will help my blog out tremendously.
